ST. LOUIS, MO — September 17, 2026 — Black Girls Do STEM (BGDSTEM) will host its annual End-of-Year STEM Showcase.
“An Afternoon in STEM” will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 p.m.
Additionally, the event will be held at Elevator Co-Warehousing, 1230 Macklind Ave.
This free community event supports Workforce, Education, STEM Showcase, Fundraising.
The showcase will highlight student-led STEM projects, youth presentations, and hands-on STEM activities.
It will also include Food Justice Symposium and Cosmetic Marketplace, showcasing Workforce, Education, STEM Showcase, Fundraising and community impact.
This year’s showcase also provides an opportunity for the community to learn more about BGDSTEM’s evolving Curiosity-to-Career pathway.
The pathway connects hands-on STEM education to mentorship, career exploration, experiential learning, postsecondary preparation, entrepreneurship, and workforce opportunities.
“Curiosity is where STEM begins,” said Cynthia Chapple, Founder and Executive Director of Black Girls Do STEM. “Our responsibility is to make sure that curiosity has somewhere to go. We want young people to move from exploring an idea, to developing skills, connecting with STEM professionals, experiencing careers, and seeing themselves as future STEM Changemakers.”
Following the completion of its first comprehensive five-year strategic plan in 2025, BGDSTEM is strengthening its STEM workforce pipeline.
Additionally, it is expanding partnerships with education and academic institutions, STEM professionals, employers, community organizations, and other ecosystem partners.
These partnerships are designed to create stronger connections between STEM learning, career exposure, postsecondary pathways, and economic opportunity.
The Curiosity-to-Career model reflects BGDSTEM’s belief.
Preparation for the next generation of STEM talent begins before a young person enters the workforce.
Moreover, through learning experiences, mentorship, and career exploration, students encouraged to see themselves as STEM learners who are innovators.
They become problem-solvers, entrepreneurs, and future STEM changemakers.
Founded in 2019, BGDSTEM provides free, hands-on STEM learning and career-connected opportunities for middle and high school girls. In 2026, the organization served 182 girls across four community learning sites and engaged STEM mentors and community partners to expand students’ exposure to STEM careers and opportunities.
The October showcase is both a celebration of the year’s accomplishments.
Moreover, it invites the St. Louis community to see how curiosity and confidence can lead to STEM careers.
This culture can also cultivate leadership.
